International Capital Conference
Global Meets Local: Co-operation, Innovation and Growth
ICC Success
The inaugural ICC was held in June 2008 at the historic Central Hall Westminster, London. The ICC attracted over 150 senior Chinese business leaders - the largest Chinese business delegation ever to visit the capital. The theme of the conference was based around capital raising for Chinese companies. Delegates were drawn form 15 Chinese provinces and several industry sectors including construction, finance, mining, pharmaceutical and industrial sectors to regional provinces. Held over three days the conference featured a stimulating mix of interactive plenary and round table sessions.
In addition to the conference sessions the event had an extensive programme of pre-scheduled one to one business meetings where over 100 private business meetings were held. The event was supported by Ministry of Commerce, NDRC, and China Securities Regulatory commission from China side encouraging large number of Chinese companies to further explore their global expansion opportunities.
The second ICC took place in September 2009 and was attended by 340 delegates from 80 Chinese and 70 western companies. The conference was addressed by 67 international experts from Europe and the USA as well as senior policy makers and business leaders from China. The second ICC was also strongly supported by Ministry of Commerce, China Bank Regulatory Commission and State Administration of Foreign Exchange gearing towards putting focus on facilitating Chinese companies’ practice of overseas market exploration.
During the two-day conference, delegates discussed how Western financial services companies and Chinese business leaders can work together to drive the growth of the world economy. The initial sessions gave a macro-economic view of China’s economy post credit crunch and insights into the challenges and opportunities facing Chinese businesses today. Later sessions focused on Private Equity, Mergers and Acquisitions, IPO’s and Chinese companies’ use of corporate bonds.
This year’s event will look at the state of the global capital markets and international monetary system in the aftermath of the credit crunch and discuss how European and Chinese companies can work together to build trade and finance growth. We will also be examining the development of finance in China and the finance needs of specific high-tech industries in the BRIC countries.
