Alistair is a corporate partner and head of the Financial Institutions Group based in our London office. He has experience in a wide range of commercial and corporate finance transactions including public takeover bids, private acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, equity issues, private equity deals, restructuring and refinancing and managing major complex deals on a cross-border basis.

Regular clients include Lloyds Banking Group, Nationwide, Legal & General, BNPP/Fortis, Société Generale, Aetna.
Relevant experience includes advising on the HBOS merger with Lloyds TSB to create Lloyds Banking Group and the associated capital raising, Nationwide on its acquisition of Cheshire Building Society, Derbyshire Building Society and part-acquisition under the UK Banking Act, 2009 of Dunfermline Building Society, the Britannia merger with Co-op Financial Services, the first merger under new legislation enabling different types of mutual society to merge, the Lloyds Banking Group sale of Insight Investment Management Limited for GBP235m to Bank of New York Mellon, the Fortis sale of 50% and joint venture of its global asset management business with Ping An of China, the BNP Paribas integration of Fortis in the UK and the BNP Paribas sale of BNPP Wealth Management to Williams de Broë/Evolution.
