Dr. Fang Xinghai, Director-General, Financial Services Office, Shanghai Municipal Government
Dr. Fang is Director-General of the Shanghai Municipal Financial Service Office. He holds his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tsinghua University and PhD in Economics from Stanford University. He is also adjunct professor of CEIBS and senior research fellow of the National Centre for Economic Research, Tsinghua University. He joined the World Bank through the Young Professional Program and was an economist there from 1993 to 1998. After returning to China, Dr. Fang was director of the Group Coordination Office of China Construction Bank, secretary-general of China Galaxy Securities Company Limited and deputy chief executive of Shanghai Stock Exchange before assuming his current position. Dr. Fang’s research interests include International Finance, Financial Market, Macro Economy, etc., with publications on reform and opening of China’s financial system and development of financial market.
