Steve Howard is the Secretary General of The Global Foundation, which he co-founded in 1998 with a number of eminent Australians. The Global Foundation enjoys bipartisan support from political leaders in Australia and internationally and is recognised globally as a unique private sector institution bringing together prominent citizens, business and policy-makers to address major challenges of our times. Since its formation, the Foundation has conducted an ongoing, high-level Australia-China Dialogue and has partnered with the Chinese Government and many Chinese institutions on matters of global significance. Steve regularly addresses international meetings held in China, including the recent Global Think Tank Summit and the Boao Forum for Asia.

Steve is also Managing Director of the private advisory firm, Global Agenda Pty Ltd and is Vice Chairman of the Global Private Equity Alliance, a global initiative under Chinese leadership. Among his other activities, Steve is also Chair of the Editorial Panel for Australia Network, Australia’s international television service seen in 44 countries. Steve was awarded the French Ordre national du Merite in 2004 for his contribution to France-Australia relations.
